Job Description
The position will be an International Temporary duty assignment from the U.S to Afghanistan. 60/60 rotations
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Systems Engineer to support a US Army Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), deployed Aviation Fixed Wing Program. Duties include:
Inspect, test, repair, maintain, and service aircraft.
Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Modify aircraft structures, space vehicles, systems, or components, following drawings, engineering orders and technical publications.
Examine and inspect engine or other components for cracks, breaks, or leaks.
Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects.
Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories, using hand tools and power tools.
Adjust, align, and calibrate aircraft systems, using hand tools, gauges, and test equipment.
Test engine and system operations, using testing equipment, and listens to engine sounds to detect and diagnose malfunctions.
Service and maintain aircraft systems by performing tasks, such as flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
Perform maintenance IAW FAA approved technical data.
Research FAA technical data to locate applicable data relevant to assigned tasks.
Other duties may be assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Must have six (6) years experience in fixed wing, and two (2) years experience as an aviation maintenance supervisor (shift lead or higher).
High School Diploma or equivalent.
A valid clear driver''s license.
A&P; license.
Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, drawings, engineering orders and other documents from both the customer and company.
Must have knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
Within budgeted or estimated time, repair, modify, install, and perform routine maintenance of all aircraft systems with accuracy and with minimal assistance.
Accurately document work performed as set forth by company and customer maintenance programs on a daily basis using the standard format. Prepare routine reports and correspondence.
Apply deductive reasoning to troubleshoot and repair and/or check complex systems.
Properly utilize Avionics test equipment to perform systems test and keep abreast of new and advanced test equipment and the use of such equipment.
Properly utilized and maintain Avionics hand tools to perform repairs and installations.
Fabricate per drawings and standard practices wire bundles and assemblies to include marking of wires, properly securing wires into bundles, and termination of wires into a variety of contacts and connectors.
Reinstall repaired or replacement parts for subsequent riveting or welding, using clamps and wrenches.
Locate and mark dimension and reference lines on defective or replacement parts, using templates, scribes, compass, and steel rule.
Cure bonded structures, using portable or stationary curing equipment.
Communicate with other workers to fit and align heavy parts or expedite processing of repair parts.
Clean, strip, prime, and sand structural surfaces and materials prior to bonding.
Repair or fabricate defective sections or parts, using metal fabricating machines, saws, brakes, shears, and grinders.
Remove or cut out defective parts or drill holes to gain access to internal defects or damages, using drill and punch.
Operate ground support equipment e.g. power carts, HiReach, etc. as required.
Take immediate corrective action regarding unsafe conditions.
