Peer Support Coordinator

RequirementsPSCs will be assigned to a regional office located in one of 10 regions to work with military installations located in their respective region to assist them in providing caregivers with needed support resources and social services so as to aid them in caring for their client. They will serve as an extension of the program's Caregiver Office whereby they will work with installations to avail them of the myriad of government, VSO and non-profit caregiver support services that exist to assist and help caregivers. Specific job duties include:
Job Duties:
PSCs will be assigned to a regional office located in one of 10 regions to work with military installations located in their respective region to assist them in providing caregivers with needed support resources and social services so as to aid them in caring for their Wounded Warrior Service member. They will serve as an extension of the WCP Caregiver Office whereby they will work with installations to avail them of the myriad of government, VSO and non-profit caregiver support services that exist to assist and help caregivers. Specific job duties include:
Responsible for coordinating the monthly convening of military caregiver PEER forums on installations assigned which include interacting and coordinating with: Military Family Life Counselors (MFLCs) who conduct the PEER forums; RCCs assigned to support the Wounded Warriors of whom the caregivers support; and installation services to establish locations and associated times to convene the forums.
Responsible for coordinating caregiver outreach efforts targeted for installations located within their respective regions.
Access and interpret information necessary to evaluate the how best to support caregivers and their families through the entire spectrum of care management, rehabilitation, and transition services with a particular focus on training.
Make recommendations on how to bolster existing caregiver support programs and on the development of new programs to shore up gaps in support.
Serve as the Primary point of contact on all caregiver-related matters for caregivers, Warrior Care units, MTFs, Installation Commands, and RCCs within their respective regions.
Required Skills/
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years' experience associated as being a Caregiver, Social Worker, Counselor, or having worked in the Social Science field or in a medical facility with patients
Veteran, military spouse or experience working with military organizations
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively across multiple agencies to accomplish project goals
Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to effectively interface and communicate with civilian and military personnel at all levels
Must be in possession or successfully able to acquire a Secret Clearance
MS Office proficiency
Bachelor's Degree or higher
Preferred
Qualifications:
HIPPA Certificate
Bi-lingual ability to communicate with caregivers that are not proficient in English

Must be able to travel as needed and adhere to AFSC travel policies and procedures.
Must be able to enter private homes that may or may not provide easy access for those with physical disabilities or those recovering from physical rehabilitation or post-recovery mobility.
Position requires ability to transport self from office locations to private homes, other offices and facilities where training and other program activities occur.
Physical requirements can typically be characterized as active: Lifting, bending, sitting on the floor, climbing may be required in the position. Requires lifting or moving various pieces of equipment, maximum 40 lbs. Position may require work on hands and knees to conduct program activities.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
